A synthesis of fire and gold, within the squinting eye that glitters!
Could I detect a quiet spot, a haven green for resting easy
the senses, weary from feeling; the body, nibbled – sweet and bitter,
the sunset of grape-picking season?

Today autumnal celebration collects the props of its attraction,
the buzzing frenzy simmers down, while yesterday it charmed completely.
Those picking grapes begin to leave; among the vines the silence scatters,
the sunset of grape-picking season.

A cart, horse-driven at the corner, squeaks while its voice is thinning slowly;
the watchman with his rusty gun starts hobbling around the vineyard.
The blackbird whistles farewell, its tune in fallow fields is growing,
the sunset of grape-picking season.

A burning from a father’s slap, an infant’s greedy hunger narrowed;
smoke up above the houses distant, a dinner invitation reeling.
And grapes, in heavy clusters hung, across the tattered bosom carried –
the woman, slow along the road –
the sunset of grape-picking season.

Съюз на огнено и златно, искрящ в окото зажумяло!
Зелено място за почивка дали ще мога да намеря
за сетивата прималнели и за презобеното тяло
във залеза на гроздобера?

Днес празникът на есента прибира свойте реквизити
и стихва дивото жужене, така замайващо до вчера.
Заглъхващи гроздоберачи и пустота между лозите
във залеза на гроздобера.

Каруца на завоя скърца, гласът й жално изтънява,
а куцият пазач обрамчва ръждясалата манлихера.
Свирукане на кос прощален расте из угарта кафява
във залеза на гроздобера.

Огнец от бащини плесници по лакома хлапашка буза
и дим на къщите далечни като покана за вечеря.
И тежки гроздове през рамо, закрили скъсаната блуза
на бавната жена по пътя
във залеза на гроздобера.
