Enchantment by Mitko Dimitrov
Translation from Bulgarian: Lilly Trendova
I wish I were a wizard-
the Wizard of the Word.
I wish I changed a leaf
into a mouse`s sunny hair
and poured all the sea waves
into a single hazelnut in rapture.
I wish I sewed from a pin to end
a thousand heart- patterned aprons
and called the golden- haired fairies
from their wheat wings.
I wish I saw rains from sandy deserts
into a single drop of water
and caught the sight of flower cathedrals
into a hundred- year olds in gallop.
I wish I changed the graveyard
into a cradle for a smiling summer
and saw the hunchbacked willow inspired
with seeds of songs.
Let the Word know my voice
through the condor`s eye!...
I wish I were a wizard-
the Wizard of the Word.
If you are the Lady of the Word,
where is your oak forest?
If you are the Lady of the Herb,
where is your meadow?
I am the Knight of the Night,
coming to you to be enchanted!
